Dave Carnie Involved With EA's Skate

I'm not too shy to admit that I keep Dave Carnie's Whalecock blog on my RSS feed.

Carnie was one-time editor of Big Brother, the excellent but now defunct skateboarding magazine created by Jeff Tremaine (Jackass) and published by Larry Flynt (Tips and Tricks, some other magazines).

I think Carnie may have inadvertantly scooped some info regarding the game in this blog post. He mentions that he helped write the game and mentions some of the pro-skaters that are involved: Danny Way, Mark Gonzales, Colin McKay, Chris Haslam, Pat Duffy, Jerry Hsu.

How Trans Am wound up on the After Burner PSP Soundtrack

Here's why NeoGAF rocks like no other. After posting a thread about how awesome our universe is now that the band Trans Am has contributed an album's worth of songs to the PSP game After Burner: Black Falcon, I return to my thread to find that FlyinJ actually knows the dude who made the awesomeness happen. Click through to the thread to read the game's lead artist Trevor Grimshaw explain how the pairing came to happen.

My favorite part: When Grimshaw accidentally tells a member of Trans Am that the band is "cool but they're totally obscure. I like them, but they basically don't exist as far as mainstream music goes."

Poison Ivy II tops Live Marketplace Movie Downloads

The selection of movies on Live Marketplace offers an interesting glimpse into what movie studios think of the gaming demographic. We like dumb action movies, dumb comedies and the occasional high-brow art film, like The Matrix.

But maybe they know us better than we think. This weekend I noticed that the top movie download was Poison Ivy II -- a Skinemax-style erotic thriller starring Alyssa Milano. The number two slot went to last year's boob-free best picture The Departed.

I'm guessing most were downloading the movie for this brief NSFW nude scene. Expect Major Nelson to announce availablility of Red Shoe Diaries any day now.
